Ran in Hana to Yume. Started back in 2005. I happened to get HtY issue that had Chapter 2 in it and at the time thought it was interesting and had a definite s-ai leaning ^^;; Forgot about it for awhile... found the chapter again and went in search of manga volumes in ~fall 2006. 3 volumes were out by then. Quickly ordered ^^ Been enjoying the series a great deal since then (although plenty of details I have no idea due to lack of Japanese skills). Was surprised to learn Vol8 would be it as there seemed to be plenty of story left to tell by end of Vol7... Vol8 came out in March but well, I didn't get it in until Apr 29.

Got V8 (final volume) in Monday 29th... looked at it very briefly then. Went through on Friday night bit more, lots more on Saturday. Sunday was looking for JP fans reviews, blogs, etc. Found a few but still, as best as Excite JP translated, didn't really find a detailed talk about the Volume. *sigh* Finding English fans to talk about it with even harder *head desk* Found one person on LJ, inga_b (2 others mentioned in a journal entry but from 1-2 years ago) who has all the volumes and knows about as much JP as I so one person to fangirl with once she catches up. Series deserves more fans though!

An all too brief description of it here. Ivy Scans did chapters 1-4 more than a year ago. No updates since and her/group page is down/defunct now too.

Mitsuya's grandfather, Yoshimitsu, has always regretted not being able to save (from what he didn't say) his best friend (known since very young) when he was a teen. Mitsuya is hearing this after seeing a picture of his grandfather with Jin as teens. Mitsuya looks exactly like his grandfather. Yoshimitsu prays to god that time would stop, to be able to correct what he couldn't then. An earthquake happens then... Mitsuya who was holding onto his grandfather's violin at the top of a flight of stairs at the hospital starts to fall. His mother, who is bit mentally unbalanced - she never recovered from Mitsuya being kidnapped as a young child and is utterly obessive in trying to keep him safe - tries to keep him from falling but fails. Mitsuya catches her and takes the brunt of the fall. He also thought he heard his grandfather's voice, his wish. He wakes up... in the past. Shortly thereafter he's found by Jin who had been looking for Yoshimitsu who had run away from home. He lives with Jin with his older sister. Their parents were killed when they were young kids. Jin's parents (very well off) took them in as they were good friends with his parents. Jin's mother is Italian. Jin has a younger sister, Aiko. Mitsuya thinks he's dreaming at first and Jin just thinks his best friend is acting strange... and that's the start of a whole lot to come. ^^

Mangaka was also a tease... did fab J&M or solo images of them for the inside and/or back covers and for the chapter front pages but most of those images do not translate to events told in the story!! Argh.

Can't stand ambiguity!! And more looked, and tried to actually read Vol8, the more I thought she had been with the ending as well as giving hope and then taking it away, plus questions left unanswered, plus events that make wonder why she didn't cover and most of all, couldn't it have been a happier (unless how I understand it is mistaken) ending?!!! It's fiction dammit, if I want depressing, I'll put the news on. Went from barely allowed time to express their feelings (romance) to tragedy. ; ________ ;

Questions should have answers for in the manga (Vol8 or elsewhere) if get a better translation that what I can figure out myself:

Who did Yoshimitsu marry?

Kei is Mitsuya's cousin. WHO are his parents?! His last name is Sohma like Mitsuya's (which is a bit of a mystery as it's his mom's dad that is Yoshimitsu Sohma) but Yoshimitsu only had (if they had other living relatives when their parents were killed, would think they would have had to go live with them??) the one older sister, Yuriko. Ok, she did have a son... and Kei is her grandson then?! Her hubby was the guy that had cheated on her before (when were only going out) ?? (a lot of the adult male characters look too much alike making it harder to figure out who is who oO)

Kei saved Setsu and helped Mitsuya out but was it really necessary for Kei to have gone back in time? And was perfectly alright for him to stay back in time?!

Why didn't Jin visit (wasn't at his side) Mitsuya after being shot??

Why did Jin come through the window?

Where was Yoshimitsu the whole time Mitsuya was in the past? That letter didn't magically get in the bushes....

Yoshimitsu explaining to Mitsuya (both on astral plane?) what happened the first time with Jin... why is there the image of the 3 of them happily walking along in school uniforms?!

With the past changed, who told Yoshimitsu about Mitsuya? Jin? Or he somehow knew what had changed even though only his older, present time self was aware of Mitsuya being successful. Yoshimitsu's soul definitely talked to Kei and Mitsuya several times....

Whem Mitsuya slips back to the future... the chess set stayed in the past or not? If it stayed, she failed to draw it in!

Kind of sad. Mitsuya never met Aiko or her child or grandchild at all in his timeline (his original or altered (was it altered at all???))...

Why the shocked expression on Mitsuya's face when he finds out who his dad's dad was?

Jin never went back to Japan after going to Italy with Aiko? Aiko did go back or guy she married had come to Italy with Yoshimitsu?

Jin was killed in WWII... Aiko's husband was too and Kei?? And Yukiko's husband?

Yoshimitsu's violin magically got fixed or Mitsuya's father gave him a different one?!

Mitsuya's determined to try to get back to the past and then wham Aiko's grandson appears... cruel, just cruel.

Is Jin (why in school uniform) there in spirit to comfort Mitsuya or is it a flashback to Jin having said that to Mitsuya once before??

Questions that don't think have anwsers for and/or only hints/suggestions:

Why didn't Jin write letters to Mitsuya? (put away / kept by him or Aiko until the future)

Why didn't Mitsuya ask his grandfather more about Jin (ok, plot wise would have ben a give away to what happened to Jin but still!!! You'd ask about the person you love and didn't want to be separated from!!)

Why a year after Yoshimitsu died would Mitsuya only be going through some of his things?

Why 3 years (so that Mitsuya wouldn't know anything beforehand??) after Aiko died did her grandson (last name only, Ubukata, we find out) come looking for Mitsuya?

Aiko's grandson, *could* be Jin (killed in 1942) reincarnated... (and not remember his past life... just yet??)

Again cruel to only have them admit to their feelings just before Mitsuya is forced back to the future. ; ________ ;

Great so is Mitsuya only remembering the golden days by playing the music or did he slip back again?! ARGH Unfortunately think it's the former. Which means lousy ending, to me anyway... no possible chance of reuniting (until afterlife) ; _______ ;

I thought the image of Mitsuya (although because of what little we see of the figure could be Yoshimitsu) being greeted (welcomed back) by Aiko, Yukiko and Jin had been in a previous volume but it wasn't... soooooooo... did he go back or not?! If she hadn't split the page with a shot of Mitsuya still playing the violin (in the present) then I would have said hell yes.

Think need fan fiction to make for a better ending. ~_____~

Code Geass Gum Card Set 1

Just like the BLEACH ones... wonder what flavour the gum is for Geass?
Came out other day in Japan. 15 regs, 5 "VC" cards and 5 special (flip between 2 pics) cards in the set.

I ordered 2 boxes.

There's also a new (past week) D.Gray-man card set: sticker on top layer of the card, underneath is part of a puzzle picture (10 cards = 1 image, 6 cards make a second image), and there's 6 special cards. Images of can see in this auction (ends in a day). Also have 2 boxes of this ordered. Think there's only 1 card in a pack and only 12 packs in a box... no gum.

What's up with the subbing?

OK, Order disappeared since 5x for DGray which was a shame. Shinsen *was* the only one else doing it at the time so was glad that the translation had improved since I had last looked at their version. Now over past few episodes have Your Mom doing, but now there's 3 other groups too?? o_* Anyone watched these versions??

Can't even be bothered to run script through a spellchecker... higure also uses fonts that are hard to read. yuurisan had better fonts. Yakuza had ok translation but pink/purple font,smallish with white outline is a bitch to read. Your Mom

Love Conan The Movie Book ~ Meitantei Conan Official Fanbook (This is Animation). This is the 3rd Love Conan mook. Other two been great for anime and manga images, character profiles, pairings/couples (real and not but all MXF) This came out the other week (when the movie did).

Love Conan Movie Seal Book out today (26th) in Japan. Book of stickers this time (there have been 2 other seal books but it'sbeen 4 years since the last one) with images from the movies (all not sure) including some shots from movie 12. 500Yen.

The 12th movie 2nd shitajiki is out (other movie goods (only can get at the theatre) I have no idea about this year. *sigh* Can't find a link (with all the links that are on the JP Movie official page) and person I'd normally ask to snag a few things has been swamped so haven't wanted to impose upon.
Usually the 2nd shitajiki has a collage of images from the film... this doesn't so bit disappointed. It's cute-ish but... Ok, 11th movie 2nd board didn't have a collage either (yeah for dead memory cells). Can see it here (not my images).

With Ep0 of the 3rd (And final) OVA series out today (R2 DVD in Japan), and the manga over (still thinking what a lame ass ending that was!!!) wasn't expecting to find (6) new plush out (not UFO catcher either (and last set of those was 1 (2?) years ago now), but "retail" ones). 18cm high. 1890Yen each.

Crap load of CDs still just out or coming out in next few months too.

ALSO, for 9000+ Yen (~6900 if order now though), the 100 Song Marathon special event DVD (2 discs, 170minutes) is coming out June 25... sigh, to buy or not to buy....

Well... ep79 is WAAAAAY better! ^^;;; Besides a few annoying Noah bits to skip through, it's Kanda (and Sakurai) to the max... and half naked the entire time which is why you should watch it raw and not subbed because don't want those pesky titles obscuring the view ^^;;

Well, it didn't seem that long in the shower but it kind of mutated as I tried to write it out ^^;

They Won't Agree About This Either

"Have you ever wanted to tell them how childish they behave?"

"Yes. Although I'm not crazy enough to try when they're both in a position to inflict serious harm," Ed replied back to Naoji as the clash of swords continued to reach their ears as Orphe and Lui had again decided to "settle" matters physically.

"Obviously."

Ed laughed. Naoji was as frustrated as he was that their partners would likely forever not be able to "play nice" for any great length of time. At least though they'd managed to learn to respect one another, and their spars now lacked the intent to crush an enemy. Yet they still riled too quickly and neither were willing to admit -- submit maybe? -- to the others' view. Ed concluded to himself, "The dangers of pride...."

Taking his eyes off of Orphe, Ed looked up towards Naoji from his sitting position, in a plain in a not so likely to be discovered area of campus, to offer with a smile to Lui's patient conscience, "This is occasionally preferable to listening them drone on for hours debating some topic."

Naoji gave Ed a small frown as his initial response, but he knew Ed's casualness was a practiced front. Ed was as concerned about Lui and Orphe as he was. They both excel in swordsmanship, making their... pride contests... a stellar dance to behold. The possibility of it becoming -- accidently -- deadly was still hard to ignore though. Naoji didn't get a chance to voice his thoughts as he turned at the sound of someone approaching.

"They're still at it?" Camus asked rhetorically. Camus had gone back to the dorms to get a medical kit. Just in case. Ed got up from the grass as Camus reached where he and Naoji had been watching over Orphe and Lui at a distance that had progressed as their spar went on. "Lui's getting some much needed exercise I suppose," Camus added resigned to the situation.

The smile that started to form on Ed's face at Camus's observation abruptly halted as his brain processed the possible implication. Ed turned to Naoji who's expression suggested, "I wouldn't put it past him." Ed groaned. Orphe would really be pissed if Lui had provoked him for that reason.

Naoji stated, "Lui will take advantage of anything if it's for his gain. If it involves unbalancing Orphe in the process..."

Ed finished, "... so much the better." Ed drew his sword and Naoji followed suit. The conclusion was clear, "play time" would be over for today.

Camus summarized as he watched Naoji and Ed head towards Lui and Orphe who were oblivious to everything except each other, "Such childish behaviour."

Ed and Naoji carefully timed their intervention to when Orphe and Lui took a few steps back from each other. The spar came to an end, however, Orphe and Lui managed to look like children caught outside after having been called in several times to come eat. Camus thought to himself, "Hopefully Naoji and Eduard would always be around to keep the potential leaders of Kuchen grounded."

Never even seen the manga before. Wanted to get a sense of whereabouts the anime was in relation to it though (AO plot required soon to keep from catching up or still miles behind). ~~I seem to get zip for answers to questions wherever I post so best to go searching myself~~... a lot of DLing later... ep76 is chapter 90. 153 was the newest scanalated one I saw (posted in the past week).

Caught up with Shakugan no Shana II this week... Ep8 - 23... end of 23... in the final episode... eh?! Geh, thought would be 25 or 26. DLed raw of 24 and watched late last night. ARGH. Yet another OPEN ended "ending." Wasn't satisfied with it, nope.

One thing that bugged me the most about Shana II was the continual "battle" between Shana and Yoshida for Yuuji... thought it was pretty damn clear who he preferred at the end of the first series.

So here's *hoping* there's another series and not too too far off in the future.

Then there's You're Under Arrest Full Throttle which I was excited about, but it's BORING and the character development has gone backwards. *sigh*

Will keep hopes up that the Slayers new series (fall 2008?) won't disappoint. :)

Just left my place (driving) and tiny little WHITE things start coming down from the sky. It's 3C. Mention of wet snow last few days but had nothing... unitl now! Drive further to work, the flakes are getting bigger and more frequent... I smile more and more... it's trying to stick but melts soon... get to work (few minutes ago) and it's a white blanket coming down now.

Yeah, people back East (or even here) would think I'm insane but... we didn't get much of this (and in most years don't on the ground) and Jan and Feb were warm...

It'll be 8C later so no chance of it staying but... I feel like going back outside. ^^

Photoshop Q: Is there a simpler way to...

50 layers (animated gif). All are too dark right now. Is there no freaking way to adjust brightness to ALL the layers or totally screwed and have to do it ONE by ONE?! If someone can enlighten me it would be much appreciated. Yoroshiku.

EDIT In Photoshop, I found, Adjustment Layer which if above X# of layers applies the effect (colour corrections) to all those layers... can't make the layer in Image Ready though... and no simple way (or is?) to apply sharpen to more than one layer at a time though.

Kanda smiled! Well, ok, smirked and if you blinked for a second, you wouldn't have seen it either.

And slow to fizzle in... Kanda vs Tykki = Yuri vs Conrad

Get feeling next episode will have more flashback to Allen while inside whatsit instead of advancing the story?

Edit: Watched sub version now... oops, Tykki was referring to Linalee and not calling Kanda kanajyo. Noticed the episode translation had errors though...
